A six unit classroom block valued at Gh¢244,391.00, constructed for Dr Saunders Community Basic School at Kintampo, has been inaugurated.
It consists of a head teacher’s office, an information and communication technology centre and a store.
The project, which was inaugurated amid joy and funfair, is a gift from Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN)-Ghana, one of the leading telecommunication companies in Ghana.
Mr James Bukari Basintale, Northern Business District Manager of MTN, said it was the company’s modest contribution towards improved and quality education.
He vowed to continue to partner government to create the right environment for effective teaching and learning in schools.
The expectation is that parents would take advantage of the additional classroom space to increase child enrolment, he said.
Mr Basintale encourage the pupils to study hard, saying, they should take responsibility of their own future.
He said stakeholders in education, including government, teachers, parents and communities, were making sacrifices to provide opportunities for children to pursue academic careers.
Mr Engelbert Prosper Sracoo, Kintampo North Municipal Director of Education, expressed the appreciation of the Ghana Education Service for the support.
He said the project has brought a big sigh of relief to the situation where teachers and pupils were forced to hold classes under trees.
The school has a population of 1,330 pupils.
