NKWANTA N:Residents hope for early completion of eastern road
Construction of works on the 50kilometer stretch of the eastern corridor road in the Nkwanta North district is progressing steadily.

Construction of works on the 50kilometer stretch of the eastern corridor road in the Nkwanta North district is progressing steadily.
President Mahama recently inspected progress of work during tour of the northern part of the Volta Region and assured the people of government commitment to ensuring the project is completed on time.
Currently, the contractor is filling up after which bitumen surfacing would commence.
Residents in the district are hopeful the construction would continue to its logical conclusion as most of them believe the project is sure way to increasing economic activities in the area.
As a farming community noted for yam production, the bad nature of the road had negatively affected their economic
activities especially in the rainy season when the road becomes unmotorable leading to high post harvest loses.
The Eastern Corridor road which starts from the Tema round about through the Volta region to the northern part of the country has been a major focus to the Atta Mils/John Mahama led administration to open up agricultural activities as most of the towns along the stretch are food baskets.
The government demonstrated much commitment by soliciting funds for the projects. for speady completion, about seven different contractors are expected to work on the entire stretch of the
road.
