About four communities in the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly of the Central Region have been connected to the national grid to improve socio-economic activities in the area.
The communities include Duabeng, Kontokrom and Atwease among others.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Peter Kofi Owusu-Ashia said the project was financed through the assembly’s common fund and is duly completed.
He further noted that plans were far advanced for Kenyase, Antobiase, Fawomanye, Twifo Kyebi, Pokukrom 2, Amoaful, Baadua 1 and 2 to be provided with electricity, adding that the assembly had already procured about 400 low tension poles towards the commencement of the project.
Touching on education, the MCE disclosed that the assembly with funding from the District Development Fund (DDF) has constructed a 3-unit kindergarten school block at Bibianiha to enhance early childhood education in the area.
