Fifty-five (55) Assembly and Area Council members in the Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region have today received brand new motorbikes.
The gesture was part of government’s nationwide project, which seeks to provide motorbikes for all legislators of the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) within the country.
The bikes aimed at providing a means of transportation for the members will also enable them discharge their duties as lawmakers for the district as well as to facilitate their mobility in and around their respective electoral areas.
Edward Nti Berko, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwe, in presenting the motorbikes to the members implored them to take very good care of the bikes and see for its proper maintenance.
He again admonished them to pay attentions to traffic regulations and adopt proper road safety practices in order not to land them in trouble citing instances where an assembly member was involved in an accident with his bike few minutes after he had received the bike.
The Assemblymembers alike the Council members of the Bosomtwe District Assembly were appreciative of the gesture.
