BAWKU: Four armoured cars for Bawku
Four light armoured cars, four Senior Police Officers and 200 bullet-proof vests have arrived in Bolgatanga en-route to Bawku following a distress call the Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) sent to Accra on Monday.

Four light armoured cars, four Senior Police Officers and 200 bullet-proof vests have arrived in Bolgatanga en-route to Bawku following a distress call the Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) sent to Accra on Monday.
The REGSEC sent the distress call following the recent sporadic shooting in the Bawku township and surrounding areas. additional security personnel would be deployed in the course of the week.
Welcoming the Officers, Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, said he was happy that there had been a quick response to the distress call and noted that it would enhance the peace process.
He said he had a feel of the dangerous situation under which the security officers were operating when he was caught in a cross-fire during one of the shooting incidents and had to lie on his stomach to avoid bullets.
Mr Woyongo said the security personnel were working hard and deserved allowances higher than the GH¢ 2.50 per day that they were being paid at the present.
The four officers are; Superintendent of Police, Hamza Yakubu; Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kwesi Arhin; DSP Obed Dzikunu and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samuel Ackom.
The Regional Police Commander, ACP Bright Oduro told Newsmen that calm has returned to Bawku.
