Mr. Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku,Afigya-Kwabre District Chief Executive (DCE), has been touring communities in the district to acquaint himself with problems confronting the people.

Areas he has so far visited include Kwamang, Kyekyewere,
Boamang, Kyerekrom, Mowire, Ankaase, Daboya, Mpobi and Nantan.

Concerns raised by people in these areas had to do mainly with
the lack of good drinking water, delays in the execution of road projects by contractors, electricity supply, the construction of school buildings, and the provision of sanitation facilities.

They also complained about what they said was the increasing
rate at which the youth were getting addicted to narcotic drugs and their refusal to take part in communal labour.

The people also demanded that the school feeding programme should be expanded.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku, said the Assembly had applied to the
Directorate of the School Feeding Programme to ensure that more pupils benefited from it.

The district, presently, operates a number of school feeding
centres including Akom, Nkwantakese, Amoako, Kyekyewere and Ankaase.

The DCE announced that the Assembly had already enacted
bye-laws to deal with people who dodge communal labour.

He appealed to the people to bury their political differences and
work together to support the assembly to speed up the pace of development of the area.

The DCE pledged to do everything he could to get the roads and
school blocks that are currently in bad condition rehabilitated.
