The School Feeding Programme which serves as enrolment drive in the Karaga District is threatened by the withdrawal of the Catholic Relieve Service (CRS).
The District Educational Director, Mr M.W.K Nyewieh in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com expressed worry by the decision by the Catholic Authorities to withdraw the services of the Catholic Relieve Service in september this year, adding that it is likely to compel most children to stop schooling.
"The association with support from World Food Programme (WFP) has played an integral role in providing the nutritional value of these pupils which serve as a form of incentive that enable them take interest in education. So there is no doubt that its removal will have effect on them"
He stated however that the Ghana School Feeding Programme is only being carried out in two schools in the district including Zenkali Ahmadiya Primary and Nangukpan English and Arabic Primary Schools.
Mr Nyewieh also identified lack of furniture as one of the problems the assembly is battling with in the educational sector.
He appealed to government to send more teachers to the district and help add more teachers’ bungalows in the district.
