AMA record officers enhance skills through comprehensive training

Record officers from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) have recently completed an extensive training program aimed at improving the management, maintenance, and control of official records across all departments, directorates, and sub-metro offices within the Assembly.

This training initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance accountability, transparency, and administrative efficiency.

Mr. Mohammed Siisu, Head of Records at the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC), facilitated the training.

He emphasized that the program was designed to equip officers with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective documentation and movement control of files within the Assembly’s Records Management Unit (RMU).

Key points discussed during the training include critical records, correspondence management, file transfer Protocol, file movement, filing system, file covers and others.

Mr. Siisu reiterated that effective records management is fundamental to good governance, promoting accountability, preventing information loss, and preserving institutional memory.

He reaffirmed GARCC’s commitment to maintaining high standards in records management and emphasized the Council's ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of records officers to improve efficiency and service delivery.
