The engagement focused on plans to improve the market, address congestion and create a safer, cleaner and more organised environment for both traders and customers.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE), Alhaji Ibrahim Fuseini Faila, the project will be implemented in phases, with the concerns and livelihoods of traders taken into consideration throughout the development process.
He assured the market women that no trader would be sacked or displaced from their source of livelihood, stressing that the approach would involve continuous consultation and collaboration with the traders.
As part of the planned development, improved toilet facilities, properly structured sheds and other essential amenities are expected to be provided to enhance the trading environment and support businesses.
The MCE said the project would prioritise the welfare of traders, noting that development must be people-centred and inclusive.
He therefore called for continued cooperation from traders as stakeholders work together to transform the market into a safer, cleaner and more organised facility that better serves the community.
