The project, being executed by B5 Plus, a Ghanaian engineering and construction firm specialising in pre-engineered building (PEB) systems, forms part of a broader agricultural transformation drive. 

Mr George Opoku, Project Manager for the facility, said that the Centre would house agricultural machinery to support farmers to increase production and contribute to national food security. 

He said the facility comprised seven main structures, including a maintenance workshop and office complex, dormitory, cafeteria, four car parks, fuel and lubricant station, spare parts store and three warehouses for fertiliser, seeds and post-harvest produce. 

According to him, the project was expected to be completed within three to four months, with construction progressing steadily since it began a month ago. 

Mr Opoku said foundation works for most facilities were almost complete, while anchor bolts had been fixed for the maintenance building ahead of steel structure installation. 

He said most structures would be delivered as pre-engineered buildings, with components fabricated off-site and transported to the site for assembly, a method that would accelerate construction. 

The Project Manager said extension bars for the warehouses had also been fabricated and were awaiting transportation to the site for assembly, making the four-month completion timeline realistic. 

He said an existing warehouse on the site, earmarked by the Municipal Assembly for cassava processing, would be incorporated into the broader project to ensure continuity in supporting farmers in the Municipality. 

Mr Opoku commended  Mr Wisdom Seade, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), and traditional authorities for their cordial cooperation. 

He said the Paramount Chief of Keta and his entourage had visited the site the previous week and pledged continued support for the project. 

The Project Manager said the project currently employed about 50 workers on a full working day, with the company deliberately engaging youth from Dorveme, Heluvi, Tsiame and other neighbouring communities to build local capacity. 

He noted that between 60 and 70 per cent of the workforce were indigenes of the Municipality, describing the approach as part of B5 Plus’ commitment to community engagement. 

Mr Opoku expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people for releasing the land and supporting the project, assuring that B5 Plus remained committed to completing the Farmer Service Centre on schedule for the benefit of farmers and the wider public.
