Mahama Launches Free Primary Healthcare Programme In Bolgatanga East

President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the Free Primary Healthcare Programme in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region, as part of efforts to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare for Ghanaians.

The programme is a flagship government initiative aimed at removing financial barriers to basic healthcare and ensuring that people, particularly those in underserved communities, can access essential health services without worrying about the cost.

The launch forms part of government’s broader agenda to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and promote preventive healthcare across the country.

Under the initiative, residents are expected to benefit from improved access to primary healthcare services, including health screening, early detection and treatment of common conditions, as well as maternal and child health services.

The programme is also expected to strengthen community-level healthcare delivery by supporting health facilities to provide timely services closer to where people live.

Speaking at the launch, President Mahama reiterated the government’s commitment to making healthcare more accessible and ensuring that no Ghanaian is denied basic healthcare because of financial difficulties.

The initiative is expected to contribute to the government’s goal of achieving universal health coverage by shifting greater attention towards prevention, early detection and treatment at the primary healthcare level.

The launch in Bolgatanga East marks an important step in the implementation of the Free Primary Healthcare Programme as government works to expand the initiative to communities across the country.
