Gushegu MCE Cuts Sod for Six-Unit Classroom Block and Teachers’ Quarters at Nasandi

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Gushegu in the Northern Region, Hon. Abdul Hafiz Adam, has cut sod for the construction of a six-unit classroom block and six-unit teachers’ quarters at Nasandi in the Waawuu Electoral Area.

The sod-cutting ceremony, held at a brief ceremony in Nasandi, marks the commencement of another major educational infrastructure project aimed at improving access to quality education and creating better teaching and learning conditions for residents in the area.

The project is among four GETFund-supported projects lobbied for by the MCE to address educational infrastructure needs in the Gushegu Municipality. Work on the other projects has already commenced in Gushegu Town, Galiwei and Kpatinga, with the Nasandi project now added to the ongoing developments.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Abdul Hafiz Adam appealed to the Chief and people of Nasandi and the Waawuu Electoral Area to support the contractor to ensure that the project is executed diligently and to the required standards.

He also urged the contractor to undertake quality work and maintain a good pace to ensure completion within the stipulated contract period.

When completed, the classroom block will serve as a Junior High School (JHS) for residents of the Waawuu Electoral Area, reducing the challenges pupils face in accessing basic education.

The six-unit teachers’ quarters will also provide decent accommodation for teachers in the area, helping to reduce the need for teachers to travel long distances to school. The facility is therefore expected to improve teacher availability, punctuality and effective teaching and learning.

The project forms part of efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and lay a solid foundation for the academic development of children in the Gushegu Municipality.

Hon. Abdul Hafiz Adam expressed appreciation to stakeholders who contributed to securing the projects, particularly Hon. Alhassan Sualihu Dandawa, Deputy GETFund Administrator, for his support.

The Gushegu Municipal Assembly remains committed to working with relevant stakeholders to improve educational infrastructure and create better opportunities for children across the municipality.
