The initiative is aimed at equipping and supporting the youth to venture into productive fishing and aquaculture activities. Madam Ankrah urged the beneficiaries to properly maintain the equipment and ensure that the kits are put to effective use.

She emphasised that addressing youth unemployment remains a key priority, noting that the fishing start-up programme would help create employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of young people in the district. She further encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of fish farming, describing it as a profitable venture capable of generating sustainable income.

Madam Ankrah also indicated that the distribution forms the first phase of the programme, adding that a second phase would be rolled out at a later date to benefit more youth in the district.
