In her maiden address which she offered thanks to everyone and God Almighty for her present position, Hon Ankrah sought divine wisdom and support from both the Assembly members and the public to successfully execute her duties with diligence.
She stressed the importance of the furniture procurement for the school children, describing it as major tools to promote education in the district adding, education was one of her top priorities in her administration.
The DCE pointed out that when school kids were materially equipped it enhanced their zeal to learn. She called on the citizenry and stakeholders to express and share their opinions with her on matters that would accelerate the district’s development.
According to her, there would be batches of furniture to be procured for distribution to other schools which did not benefit from the first supply.
She charged the school authorities to follow the maintenance culture for the durability of the desks.
The District Director of Education, Mr. David Akomea Asokwa receiving the items, commended the government and the DCE in particular, for championing the advancement of education in the early stage of her administration. He said schools in the district have been benefitting from such facilities since 2022 when he assumed office and called for more support to achieve the developmental goals of education in the district.
Mr. Asokwa assured the DCE of his maximum cooperation for a smooth and effective administration.
Earlier, the District Coordinating Director, Mrs Yvonne Naboo in her brief address, stated when the desks were procured, the District Education Director was tasked to ensure the items benefitted deprived and deserving schools. She noted the furniture formed part of the government’s policies to intensify teaching and learning in schools in the district.
