The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) on Saturday organized a massive clean-up exercise in the municipality to ensure that the area was clean for the commemoration of the nation’s 57th independent Anniversary.

The exercise, which started at about 0700 hours and ended at midday, was carried out by officials of the ASHMA,Security Services, Zoomlion Ghana Limited and some residents in the area.

The exercise began at the Ashaiman main bus terminal through the Mandela Park, Ashaiman main market and ended at the local Polyclinic.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Ibrahim Baidoo, Municipal Chief Executive, said he was really impressed with the way the people welcomed the exercise and the urgency with which they attached to it.

According to him, the exercise would be organised regularly to instil discipline, patriotism and good hygiene among residence.

He advised the residents to desist from improper waste disposal in the Municipality.
