The people of Donkro-Nkwanta in the Nkoranza South Municipality of the Brong-Ahafo Region, under the leadership of their chief; Nana Owusu Akyeaw Brempong II, are to establish a senior high school (SHS) in the town.

The school would cater for students from Baanofuor, Asuono, Abountem, Ayerede, Kyeradeso, Salamkrom, Nwoase, Kyekyewere and Yerepemso.

Mr Collins Ofosu, Chairman of the Project Planning Committee, told Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that accommodation has been secured for the first batch of students.

In addition, some buildings have been acquired for teachers’ as well an administration block.

He commended Madam Philippa Banson, Municipal Director of Education for her advice and guidelines towards the establishment of the school.

Mr Ofosu called on parents to enrol their children in the school.

Mr Kojo Clement, former Assistant Headmaster in-charge of Administration at Sekyedumase SHS, who is the Acting Headmaster said the school would undertake courses in General Arts and Business.

He commended Nana Brempong, a retired educationist and former tutor of Bechem School for the Deaf for the foresight in initiating the project to promote education in the area.
