The Sefwi Wiawso District Assembly has taken delivery of a new fire tender from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to assist fire fighting in the area.

The provision is in realization of the ruling National Democratic Congress’ promise to equip various security agencies such as the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Fire Service in a bid to enable them improve upon their work without difficulties.

However, information gathered indicates that district has since been without fire tender thereby prompting fire service personnel to call for fire tenders from other sister districts during emergency situations which may need the assistance of the facility to save lives and properties.

Mr. L. A. Santana, Chief Executive for the District, who disclosed this when Ghanadistricts.com also expressed appreciation to government and the GNFS for the gesture and called on personnel of national fire service to use the facility for its intended purpose and also ensure its regular maintenance. 

In other related developments, the assembly has also constructed a 6-unit Classroom Block at Nyamenae, a subsurb community in the district to boost teaching and learning.

The project, which was constructed with funding from the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) is duly completed and currently in use.
