SUHUM: Women development association launched
An association known as Women Development and Youth Base Association has been outdoored in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District in the Eastern Region.

An association known as Women Development and Youth Base Association has been outdoored in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District in the Eastern Region.
The association has membership strength of about one thousand (1,000), and is aimed at empowering women by providing them with social amenities and engaging men and the youth in agriculture as well as other viable skills to eliminate poverty in the country.
Speaking on the theme, “Women-Partners to National Development”, the District Chief Executive, Samuel Fleischer-Kwabi noted that women were key factors in national development and pledged the Assembly’s support to the Association to encourage them reach greater heights.
He promised to handover to them the revamped Suhum Garment Factory to serve as a training ground for individuals interested in dress making.
On the election, the DCE cautioned Ghanaians to be tolerant on divergent views and be wary of politicians who use detestable speech that divide people and promote violence.
The Deputy Minister of Local government and Rural Development, Stephen Arthur commended women for contributing their quota to the development of the country.
He also urged them to have a common mouthpiece in their fight against problems such as domestic violence, rape and its related issue they face whiles encouraging them to partake in ICT programmes so as to take up government initiatives for economic growth.
Mr. Arthur admonished them to eschew violence against each other in the 2012 elections for peace to prevail in the country.
On her part, the Regional Director of the Department of Women and Children Affairs, Mrs. Janet Kwapong reiterated that the association will be committed to making efforts to achieve gender equality to promote the survival, protection and development of children.
