In a bid to improve the status of education in the area, the Jaman South District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region has secured $103,100 from the Japan government for the construction of a 6-unit classroom block for the Adamsu primary school.
The project when completed will have ancillary facilities including a store-room and a toilet facility.
However, in order to kick start the project, a grant agreement was singed in Accra yesterday, with the District Chief Executive, Julius Atta Bediako signing on behalf of the Jaman South Assembly whereas Mr. Naoto Nikai, Japanese Ambassador to Ghana initialing for the Japan government.
The agreement was part of the Japanese Government Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Project (GGHSP).
Confirming this in interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the DCE observed that the Ghana government alone cannot undertake all the development projects in the country alone hence the need to solicit for support from elsewhere to develop the area.
He was grateful to the Japanese government for the gesture.
In a related development in education, the DCE noted that with intervention from government a number of schools under trees have been provided with permanent structures and pavilions adding that the Ghana Education Trust Fund projects are also on course in the area.
