After successfully clearing heaps of refuse in three areas in the district earlier in the year, the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District Assembly is making plans to clear some five others hopefully before the end of the year.

This follows a successful and positive responds from people in communities where the heaps were cleared when they bought into the idea of making good use of refuse containers used to replace the heaps.

District Water and Sanitation Officer, Jasper Quashie who disclosed this to Ghanadistricts.com gave the five heaps the Assembly intends to clear as Brong Densusu, Coaltar, Asuboi, Dokrochiwa and Amanase. According to him, like in the case of the earlier ones, communal containers would be stationed at locations which would be cleared regularly by Zoomlion.

Already, 22 containers have been distributed at vantage spots where people and households emptied their wastes. He said the Assembly was aware of the effects of poor sanitation especially outbreaks of cholera and is putting the necessary measures in place to ensure effective management of both solid and liquid wastes.

He called on the citizenry to be mindful of their environment and keep it clean at all times to avoid the spread of diseases.
