Research has proven that malaria has been one of the major causes of death among children and pregnant women in the country.

For this reason the Ghana Health Directorate in collaboration with its donor partners has slated five (5) regions in the country to benefit from a free distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Mosquito Nets (LLIN).

They include the Western, Central, Upper East, Upper West and Brong Ahafo Regions.

Dr. Linda Vantoo, the Western Regional Health Director, who disclosed this at the durbar to launch the LLIN Bednet Hang-Up Campaign in the Mpohor Wassa East Distrtict of the Western Region alluded that the project was funded by the Department of International Development (DFID) through the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

She however appealed to all stakeholders to help eradicate malaria entirely from the country.

The Mpohor Wassa East Director of Health, Priscilla Amoah, also appealed to the people to use the net properly and keep their surroundings clean.

There was demonstrated on during programme on how to properly hung-up the net in order for it to last long.
