The Nanumba North District Assembly is to embark on a vigorous sensitization programme to encourage the residents to pay property rates which is one sure way of generating revenue for the assembly internally.

According to the assembly lots of people especially land lords in the district have the capacity to pay property rates but unfortunately they have failed to do so, a development which is hampering the mobilization of internally generated funds for the district.

At the end of the sensitization programme people who default in paying property rates will be made to face the law.

Speaking to ghanadistricts.com, the Nanumba North District Chief Executive, Mohammed Ibn Abass stated that the assembly believes that increased payment in property rates will impact positively in the development agenda of the district.

He said in a bid to further improve on the internally generated funds for the assembly, the district is engaged in a number productive activities including the establishment of a soya bean processing factory from which monies will be accrued to support activities of the assembly.

Hon. Ibn Abass added that a lot of leakages have been identified in the collection of revenue; hence the services of consultants who have the appropriate expertise to collect revenue have been engaged to increase revenue mobilization in the district.
