A tourist Receptive Center had been commissioned at Daboya in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region.

A tourist Receptive Center had been commissioned at Daboya in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region. The GHc 25,000.00 facility is being funded by Nature Conservation Research Center an NGO in conjuction with the Nertherlands Development Organisation (SNV) and the Ghana Tourists Board.

Addressing the public at the commissioning in Daboya. Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, DCE for West Gonja District Assembly stated that the district had a lot of tourists attractions such as the Mole National Park which is the largest park in West Africa.

Others include the Ancient Mosque as well as the Mysthic stone at Laribanga, the Mognori Eco- tourism village, the Daboya Smock Weaving heritage among others.

He hinted that measures are being put in place to develop all these sites to meet international standards. The DCE further disclosed that the receptive center will be a one- stop- shop for all tourism products in the communities. this, in his view will encourage tourists to spend some time in the community which will go a long way to improve the local economy.

Hon. Adam also mentioned that the District Assembly is leaving no stone unturned to develop tourism into an attractive alternative income generating venture for the youth and also help manage poverty in the district.

The DCE also informed the people that the NDC government is determined to fulfill its campaign promises to the electorate. This, he said is evidenced in the implementation of the free school uniform policy, improvent in the school feeding program and the increase in the sponsorship package of the capitation grant.

Hon. Adam also said that government will soon launch the Savana Accelerated Development Authourity, a programe aimed at reducing poverty in the three Northern Regions and also intends to bridge the development gap between the North and the South. The DCE finally called on the people in the community to own the program to ensure its sustainability.
