The Vice President John Mahama Visited West Gonja District as part of his tour of some districts in the Northern Region.

Addresing an enthusiastic crowd at the palace of yagbunwura, King of Gonja Traditional Area, the Vice President stated that he has come to thank the people for voting NDC into power and called for their support and prayers for the government to succeed.

He disclosed that the government has secured funding for the tarring of Fufulso-Sawla road and that work on the road will start in 2010 after parliamentary approval.

The Vice president finally thanked the people for maintaining peace in Gonjaland.

On his part, the Overloard of Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbunwura Bawa Abudu Doshi appealed to government to consider creating another region out of the present Nlorthern Region.

He pleadged the support of the traditional authourities to push the agenda of government through.
