Elmina Canoe owners have asked the Chief Fisherman of Elmina , Nana Jojo Solomon, to vacate office as the chief fisherman and gave him two weeks to hand over.
They have formed a six member committee , headed by Nana Atta Kakraba , to steer the affairs of the fishermen until they found a replacement.
Speaking at a press conference at Elmina , the spokesperson of the Canoe owners, Papa Kow Asafua, disclosed that their action was necessitated by disrespect meted out to them by Nana Solomon, who is also Central regional Chief fisherman.
They also accused him of embezzling proceeds from premix sales and alleged that the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA), George Frank Asmah, recommended in his handing over notes that Nana Solomon be questioned about the wherebouts of GHC 35000 being proceeds from the sale of premix from July 2008 to July 2009.
They , therefore , gave him two weeks ultimatum to vacate his office , otherwise they would advise themselves, and take the necessary action to evict him.
According to Asafua, the canoe owners made him Chief Fisherman in 2004, and they had the rights to destool him when he is seen lording over them.
