Sixteen people have been confirmed dead by hospital authorities at the Central Regional Hospital, Cape Coast, after two vehicles collided on Monday dawn.

According to the Joy FM’s Central Regional correspondent, Richard Kojo Nyarko, the dead include two minors – below two years. The accident happened at about 2am when an articulator truck from Elmina and a fully loaded 207 Benz bus travelling from Takoradi collided at Komenda in the Central Region.

Three of the victims died on the spot and the rest died at the hospital. About seven of the victims, he says, are currently responding to treatment when he visited the hospital. The parent of a toddler, who was found among the survivors, cannot be traced. A number of family members and sympathizers have thronged the regional hospital to identify their relatives involved in the accident.
