OFFINSO: Assembly tackles child labour issues
Ten Child Panels have been set up in ten cocoa growing areas in the Offinso Municipality to monitor, identify and take appropriate action to deal with child labour cases.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Victor Amponsah, who announced this, said the communities include Waswase; Koforidua; Ayaasu; Apotosu; Nyankomase; Baniekrom; Amankwatia; Camp and Kyebi.
He was addressing an ordinary meeting of the Municipal Assembly at Offinso.
Mr. Amponsah said the Assembly has in addition, established a 21-member Municipal Child Protection Committee, charged with the responsibility to design a long-term plan of action to address the incidence of child Labour.
The committee would look at ways to reduce child labour by twenty percent at the end of the year and eliminate the practice by 2015.
The Municipal Chief Executive, ( MCE), called on stakeholders, especially assembly members in communities hosting the panels, to closely follow the work of the team and to provide the Assembly with vital information on how to enhance their operations.
He said child labour must end to ensure the proper development of children.![]()
