A circuit court at Offinso, has sentenced Kwabena Agbalenyo, 28, to eight years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 15-year-old girl at Atakorakurom near Abofuo in the Ashanti region.

A circuit court at Offinso, has sentenced Kwabena Agbalenyo, 28, to eight years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 15-year-old girl at Atakorakurom near Abofuo in the Ashanti region.

He pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Gulliver Tekorang, told the court presided over by Mr. Osei Kwame that the convict, who lived in the same area with the victim, had been having sex with her, whenever she went to toilet in the bush.

Prosecution said Agbalenyo’s wife who suspected the relationship confronted the girl but she denied the allegation.

Chief Inspector Tekorang said that Agbalenyo’s wife who was not convinced by the denial, asked the girl to swear to establish her innocence but she (victim) refused.

Prosecution said the convict’s wife cursed the victim (using an egg) and the girl fell sick and was admitted at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Chief Inspector Tenkorang said that the victim’s family asked Agbalenyo’s wife to revoke the curse after the victim admitted having sex with the convict but the woman refused.
