NANUMBA NORTH : More join NHIS
As many as 10,059 people have joined the National Health Insurance Scheme in the Nanumba North District for the first quarter.

As many as 10,059 people have joined the National Health Insurance Scheme in the Nanumba North District for the first quarter.
This has therefore increased the total registered members of the scheme to 73,604.
The District Scheme Manager, Mr Issahaku Mohammed expressed
satisfaction at the progress and perfomance of the scheme so far.
"Though it was wrongly interpreted in thebeginning, most people got the motivation from the benefit others with the card are enjoying and unveil themselves and their families for registration", he added.
He said 68,643 of the registered members have been issued with ID cards which enable them access health care delivery from institutions like Bimbila Government Hospital, Wulensi Health Centre, Chamba Clinic, chemical shops among others.
He however identified abuse of the system by some individuals and health institutions as threateneing the survival of the scheme.
"While some institution overcharge, and overprescribe, some individuals go to the hospital without any course just because they would not be asked to pay", he said.
Mr Issahaku Mohammed also appeal for a permanent office for the scheme to enable it deal with the increasing number of registered members and proper storage of data as well as logistics.
