The Tatale-Sanguli District was carved out of the former Zabzugu-Tatale District with the Legislative Instrument (LI) 2067.It was one of the six (6) Districts created in 2012 in Northern Region and inaugurated as a functional entity on the 28^th June, 2012.

The Assembly exists to provide quality socio-economic services as well as maintain law and order through mobilizing physical and financial resources while at the same time empower the citizenry through civic engagement programs to demand from duty bearers.
