The facility, located in Boadua, serves as a critical center for meat processing for butchers, traders, and the general public in the area.
The rehabilitation project forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to improving public health and sanitation standards within the district.
Prior to the intervention, the slaughterhouse was in a poor condition, with dilapidated walls, leaking roofing sheets, and unhygienic surroundings.
The drainage system was inadequate, leading to stagnant water and waste accumulation, while the slaughter slabs had deteriorated to the point of posing health risks.
These challenges not only compromised the safety and quality of meat processed in the facility but also contravened environmental health regulations. Butchers and other stakeholders had made repeated appeals to the Assembly to address the situation.
The rehabilitation works involved the repair and replacement of damaged walls and roofing sheets, the installation of a modern drainage system to prevent water stagnation, and the refurbishment of slaughter slabs to meet hygienic standards.

A reliable water supply was provided to ensure regular cleaning and processing activities, while the entire facility was painted to improve both aesthetics and durability.
Additionally, a proper waste disposal system was put in place to comply with environmental guidelines.
With the completion of these works, the Boadua Slaughter House now provides a safer, cleaner, and more efficient environment for meat processing.
This improvement will reduce the risk of contamination, enhance the quality of meat supplied to consumers, and promote better public health outcomes.
The facility also offers improved working conditions for local butchers, which is expected to boost productivity and compliance with food safety standards.
The Denkyembour District Assembly’s intervention at the Boadua Slaughter House is a testament to its dedication to infrastructural development and public health improvement.
The Assembly remains committed to maintaining the facility through regular inspections and maintenance while working closely with stakeholders to ensure it continues to meet the highest hygiene standards.
