According to the chief, the previous government awarded the road on contract, but immediately its lost the 2024 election, the contractor left the site, leaving massive dust, which was affecting the health of commuters and residents.

Nana Kwa-Prah who is also the Odikro of Gomoa Dahom, made this known at the annual yam festival of the chief and people of Gomoa Dahom in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.

He also bemoaned the poor communication networks residents were encountering, compelling them to travel to Agona Swedru and Gomoa Afransi to make phone calls.

He said the situation had forced majority of the youth to migrate to Agona Swedru where they deemed fit to transact businesses, and therefore appealed to the ministers of Roads and Highway, and Communications to go to their aid.

On self-help projects, Nana Kwa-Prah said the residents had initiated a community centre, but needed the support of the Gomoa Central District Assembly to complete it.

Mr. Hackman-Aidoo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa Central, assured the chief and residents that the National Democratic Congress government has outlined excellent policies and programmes to improve the living standards of the people.

The DCE pledged 30 bags of cement to support the Community centre project and further gave the assurance that the Assembly would continue to assist them.

On poor roads and poor communication networks, the DCE hinted that his office had identified five communities including Dahom without good mobile communication network, and had contacted the Ministry of Communication to help resolve it as a matter of urgency.

Similarly, the issue of deplorable road from Gomoa Achiase to Dahom had also been submitted to the road Ministry to impress upon the contractor to come back to site to complete the project.

On Sanitation, Mr. Hackman-Aidoo touted the Mahama government’s commitment to address issues on sanitation and tasked the residents to keep their environment clean to avert the outbreak of communicable diseases.

He said the Ministry of Local government; Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs had instituted a monthly clean up exercise being replicated in all 35 communities in the Gomoa Central District to enhance environmental cleanliness.

Mr. Hackman-Aidoo urged the chief to lead the residents to undertake clean up exercises to ensure sound environment, adding that the Environmental Health and Sanitation department had intensified its ‘’saman-saman ‘’work to prosecute recalcitrant residents.

The Queen mother who is also the Apakansuahemeaa of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, appealed to parents to be responsible and take care of their wards in order not to drive them into the hands of unscrupulous men.

The Queen mother reiterated calls on the government to facilitate the construction of the road to aid the transportation of goods and services.

She urged the government to provide the town with portable water to complement the only borehole the Member of Parliament, Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng, affectionately called ‘A Plus’ provided, which unfortunately uses electricity, and left them without water during power outages.

The Queen mother bemoaned the excessive usage of illicit drugs, such as RED, which was causing severe harm to the youth and called for its ban by the relevant agencies to save the youth from destruction.
