The sod-cutting ceremony, held on January 30, 2026, marked the official commencement of the project, which is expected to provide a safe, modern and conducive learning environment for children in the community.

The proposed facility will comprise two classrooms, a kitchen, washroom facilities, a playground and fencing, among other ancillary facilities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Jerry Yao Ameko stressed the importance of education to the socio-economic development of the district and the country at large.

He described education as the bedrock of national development and emphasised the need to invest in early childhood education to provide children with a strong foundation for their future academic and personal development.

The DCE noted that providing appropriate infrastructure at the basic level would help create a conducive environment where young learners could develop their intellectual, social and creative abilities.

He assured residents of the Assembly’s commitment to supporting projects that address infrastructure gaps and improve the quality of education across the Adaklu District.

The construction of the KG block is expected to ease pressure on existing educational facilities at Wumenu and provide children with a more comfortable environment for effective teaching and learning.
