Mr Boamah made the call during the Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Assembly, held at Effia in the Western Region on July 19, 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Assembly Members to deliberate on the revised 2026 Annual Action Plan, the revised 2026 Composite Budget and other matters relating to the development of the Municipality.

The MP stressed the need for the Assembly to ensure that public resources were used efficiently, judiciously and transparently to promote development and improve the living conditions of residents.

According to him, the resources available to the Assembly belonged to the people, and every cedi spent must translate into measurable improvements in the lives of residents.

Mr Boamah said his review of the Assembly's Composite Budget up to the end of May 2026 had raised concerns about expenditure in some areas exceeding approved budgetary estimates.

He particularly called for a review of expenditure on sanitation, noting that more than GH¢2.8 million had been spent in the area and urging the Assembly to assess whether the expenditure represented value for money.

The Effia MP therefore called for stronger monitoring and accountability systems to ensure that development projects were implemented efficiently and that public funds were properly utilised.

He emphasised that transparency was essential to building public confidence in local governance and urged Assembly Members and officials to uphold the principles of probity and accountability.
