Mr Dokurgu made the commitment when he delivered his sessional address at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly held at Effia.

The meeting provided a platform for Assembly Members to deliberate on the revised 2026 Annual Action Plan, the revised 2026 Composite Budget and other matters relating to the development of the Municipality.

The MCE said the Assembly remained determined to reduce poverty and deprivation across communities through sustainable policies and developmentprogrammes.

He noted that despite challenges, the Assembly had made progress in areas including healthcare, roads and agriculture, while also implementing initiatives to support local economic development.

On agriculture, Mr Dokurgu said the Assembly had promoted urban agriculture as a means of enhancing food security and creating employment. He disclosed that 192 farmers, comprising 131 males and 61 females, had received training on improved farming methods, pest and disease management and climate-smart agricultural practices.

Touching on revenue mobilisation, the MCE reported that the Assembly had generated GH¢16.17 million, representing 11.6 per cent of its 2026 expected revenue of GH¢139.29 million. Internally Generated Funds stood at approximately GH¢2.61 million, representing 36.12 per cent of the projected IGF.

He further disclosed that 46 Persons with Disabilities, comprising 24 males and 22 females, had received grants and items valued at GH¢244,600 from the Assembly under its social welfare interventions.

Mr Dokurgu said the Assembly had also undertaken programmes to create employment opportunities, support existing businesses and strengthen economic activities within the Municipality.

On sanitation, he said regular clean-up exercises had been organised to improve environmental cleanliness, prevent sanitation-related diseases and promote responsible attitudes towards the environment.

The MCE also assured residents that the Municipality remained peaceful, attributing the situation to the effective response of security agencies to security-related incidents.

He pledged that the Assembly would continue working with relevant stakeholders to create a safe and enabling environment for socio-economic development.

Mr Dokurgu further touched on interventions in education, health, roads and ongoing development projects, assuring residents of the Assembly’s determination to bring meaningful development closer to the people.
