The project is expected to benefit communities that have traditionally depended on streams and other water sources for their daily needs, helping to reduce the difficulties associated with accessing potable water.

Under the initiative, the beneficiary communities will receive mechanised boreholes equipped with water treatment plants and storage tanks to ensure that residents have access to treated water for domestic use.

The intervention is aimed at addressing water supply challenges and improving the living conditions of residents, particularly in communities where access to safe drinking water remains a concern.

The provision of water treatment facilities is expected to help improve water quality, while the storage tanks will support the availability and distribution of water to community members.

According to the project timeline announced at the sod-cutting ceremony, the facilities were expected to be completed within four months.

The initiative highlights the Assembly’s efforts to expand access to basic social amenities and address the water needs of underserved communities.

Access to clean drinking water is essential to public health and community development, as it helps reduce reliance on potentially unsafe water sources and supports improved hygiene and sanitation.

Upon completion, the mechanised boreholes are expected to provide a more dependable source of potable water for residents of the five beneficiary communities and contribute to improved wellbeing across the municipality.
