Ga West and Talk2Me Foundation empower girls on International Day celebration

The event, held at the forecourt of the Municipal Education Office, was themed “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.”
It also featured a skills exhibition by girls drawn from nine educational circuits within the municipality, showcasing creativity in paper works, batik, beadwork, cookery, waste-to-art projects and musical performances.
Outstanding participants received certificates and technical guidance from resource persons in diverse fields.
Mr. John Desmond Sowah Nai, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to promoting gender equity and enforcing policies that protect the rights of girls.
He warned that perpetrators of abuse and exploitation against girls would face strict sanctions, noting that safeguarding the welfare of girls remained central to the assembly’s developmental agenda.
Mr. Victor N. Tawiah, Ga West Municipal Director of Education, commended the girls for their innovation and enthusiasm, stressing the importance of creating safe spaces for their education and empowerment.
He underscored that investing in the girl child was essential for sustainable national development.
Ms. Ampem Darkowaa Sarfo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Talk2Me Foundation, reiterated her organisation’s commitment to the holistic empowerment of girls through its signature 3L Model comprising listen, learn, and lead.
Ms Sarfo explained that the model sought to build girls’ confidence, enhance their life skills and prepare them to lead purpose-driven lives.
She added that the foundation would continue to partner schools and communities to create safe and supportive environments where girls could learn, grow and lead confidently.
Mrs. Karis E. Senanu Adzosii, Head of Career Guidance and Counselling at SOSHermann Gmeiner School, Accra, speaking as the guest speaker of the programme, urged the girls to embrace personal growth and take up leadership roles.
He also called on stakeholders to invest more in education and mentorship initiatives that would nurture girls as agents of positive change.
The event brought together students, education officials, community leaders and development partners to highlight the creativity, resilience and leadership potential of girls across the municipality.
