KINTAMPO: Adimpong Community refuse dump leveled

The Adimpong Community of the Kyeremankuma Electoral Area, one of the youngest neighborhoods in the Kintampo Municipality is beginning to see its refuse dump skyrocketing.

Siting of the refuse dump which was by the stream, Pumpum and serving as a boundary for both the Kyeremankoma and Dwenewoho Electoral areas made the exercise to level the refuse dump one of the greatest concern to both Assemblymen and the Municipal Environmental Analyst Officer.

Mr. Foli Ernest Kwasi, the Municipal Environmental Officer indicated that the relevance of the exercise is to help deal with the COVIC-19 pandemic and water pollution and its reoccurrence.

He also noted that the Kintampo waterfalls is a major revenue earner for the Municipal Assembly and thus it was necessary for the Municipal Assembly to collaborate with the two Assemblymen, Mr. Issah Mubarik of the Dwenewoho and Mr. Zindam Puaul of Kyeremankoma to carry out the exercise in a bid to offer the recreational facility a better water channel.

According to the two Assemblymen, hitherto the exercise, the site for the refuse dump did not only avail the people of their electoral areas with environmental challenges but also hindered easy movement to and fro the two electoral areas.

They said the exercise will go a long way in doing away with water infection diseases especially now that the fight of Coronavirus in their electoral areas.

Mr. Mubarik also revealed that, as part of the exercise, plans were far advanced to develop a footbridge over the Pumpum steam once the refuse has been done away with, for easy access to both electoral areas.

The two communities were full of praise for the project as they believed it would open them up more and aid assay movement of their wards to school.

Just after the now no more refuse dump and the stream was the Roman Catholic Primary and Junior High School as well as Emmanuel preparatory school and a host of business like the sawmill.
