A convenient environment for teaching and learning is being created for students and teachers at Jordan, a community in the North Dayi district in the Volta Region.

The school is expected to house children from Primary 1 to Primary 6 from Jordan and its surrounding communities.

Construction of the 6-unit classroom block has commenced under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). It forms part of efforts to remove schools under trees in the country, a policy the government rolled out since 2009 and continue to pursue it seriously.

District Chief Executive for North Dayi, Stephen Komla Timinca said the school block is in line with the NDC Government’s promise to remove all schools under trees and improve infrastructure deficit that seems to retard progress of education in the country.

The DCE who expressed regret that teaching and learning in the school currently takes place under trees is hopeful a collaborative efforts of the district assembly, government through its implementing agencies including the education ministry, Ghana education Trust Fund (GETFund) and developing partners will be able to meet the needs of the education sector to function effectively and efficiently in order to raise standard of education in the district.
