Members of the Savelugu-Nanton Municipal Assembly on Monday confirmed Mr Abdulai Alhassan Red as Municipal Chief Executive.

The Savelugu-Nanton Municipal Assembly is composed of 65 Assembly Members and 64 members were present and cast their votes out which Mr Alhassan Red poled 63 votes representing 93 per cent.

The election was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission led by Mr Sylvester Kanyi, its Northern Regional Director.

Dignitaries who witnessed the confirmation ceremony included Mr Bede Ziedeng, Northern Regional Minister, Mr Murtala Mohammed, Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations and Member of Parliament (MP) for Nanton, Hajia Mary Boforo, MP for Savelugu, some District Chief Executives in the region and some regional and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress.

In a message, Mr Alhassan Red pledged to work to quicken the pace of development of the Municipality by improving on social amenities and other infrastructural facilities to match the assembly’s growing population.

He also pledged to work to improve roads in the Metropolis to boost agricultural production, which is the mainstay of the people in the Municipality.
