A school Management Committee Chairman of the Moglaa community in the Savelugu district in the Northern region, Salifu Haruna has called on government and the Assembly to ensure the expansion of more infrastructure and the provision of computers to schools in the bid to assist improving the academic laurels of pupils.
He emphasized that qualitative development of their children was essential in this age, therefore there was the need to make available all the facilities, systems and the conducive environment for learning so as to push quality education in the area.
Mr Haruna made these concerns when the Regional Advisory and Information Systems (RAINS) interacted with the community members as part of the implementation to improve educational governance and accountability project sponsored by Star-Ghana.
The three-year project is aimed at empowering the people, especially the School Management Committees and the Parent Teacher Associations to monitor and take charge of the responsibility in managing their schools.
However, Moglaa and Langa communities in the district have expressed worry that educational facilities in their communities were few, sub-standard and therefore need rehabilitation. They said the few classrooms available were over-crowded making teaching and learning difficult in the area.
