Captain (RTD) Anthony Cudjoe, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has expressed worry over some unauthorised development as well as indiscriminate erection of containers and kiosks within the twin-city.
He said the current development was a threat to the kind of city the Assembly was envisaging since the twin-city had become a point of attraction with the oil and gas find.
Captain RTD Cudjoe giving an account of the assembly’s performance at its Third Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Sixth Assembly appealed to assembly members as well as heads of Department to devise pragmatic measures in controlling the situation.
Every nooks and crony of the metropolis is witnessing a fast erection of metallic kiosks termed containers and wooden structures which must be properly coordinated to fit into the development plan of the twin-city.
The MCE on the other hand said, the assembly, despite the numerous constraints was able to construct three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Ahanta Akromkroom and West Ridge primary, renovation of Metro Coordinating Director’s Residence, construction of 16 seater W/C toilet facility at Essikado-Ketan and installation of Ice chamber facility at Apremdo and Sekondi market.
The rest are: construction of fish smoking and processing facility, paving of the floor of the Whindo abattoir and the drilling of borehole facility with mechanized hand pump at Whindo abbatoir and Ahanta Abaasa health Centre.
