The Ghana Physician Assistants (Medical) Association (GPAA) on Tuesday opened its 11th Annual General Conference in Ho.

The Ghana Physician Assistants (Medical) Association (GPAA) on Tuesday opened its 11th Annual General Conference in Ho.

The five-day conference is on the theme “The Versatility of the Physician Assistant in Primary Health Care Setting: The Way Forward.”

A statement signed by Chief Bandana Imoro III, National President of GPAA, and copied to the GNA in Ho, said programmes lined up for the conference include a scientific session, presentations and public health campaigns, among other activities.

According to the statement, the Physician Assistant is a middle level health professional, trained and equipped to cater for the basic and essential health needs of people mainly at the preliminary healthcare delivery level.

The statement said Madam Sherry Ayittey, Minister of Health is the special guest of honour for the conference, while Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) is Guest Speaker.

Other dignitaries expected at the conference include Mr Joseph Nii Afotey-Agbo, Volta Regional Minister and Dr Joseph Teye Nuertey, Regional Director of the GHS, the statement added.
