The District Chief Executive for the Sissala West District Assembly, Moses Dramani Luri has underscored the need to intensify government’s economic interventions as a step to reducing poverty in the local areas.

He therefore believed that if all the economic modules and pro-poor growth strategies like the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP), Local Entreprises and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP), National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), and the Youth in Agric Programmes are revitalized and kept on track it will minimize the extent of economic hardships in the communities.

Mr. Dramani Luri made these claims in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com to discuss the best strategies to ease the economic burden of residents of the district.

He also highlighted the need to promote agric in his area, noting that the chunk of the district’s population are engaged in agriculture and agric related activities.

According to him, the district is endowed with large and arable land which could be harnessed and redeveloped for the growth of agric in the area.

He was therefore quick to note that the erratic rainfall pattern has been a major limitation hampering the growth of the sector.

On account of this, Mr. Dramani then called for the need to sustain the implementation of irrigational programmes in the area, so as to provide the avenue for farmers to scale up their production through the effective and efficient use of resources available.
