Six unit classroom blocks have been constructed in Central Gonja District in the Northern Region in each of the flood affected schools in the District.

Debir Port, Tamankalag, Zanzugu and Bethlehem are the electoral areas that benefited from this development.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com the Central Gonja District Chief Executive Hon. Issifu Salisu Be-Awuribe stated that the recent flood in the District left most of the government schools destroyed, adding that the newly constructed classrooms would replace the old ones to  ensure effective learning and teaching.

He disclosed that the Kpinjipe to Kusawgu Bridge is also being constructed strategically to link 40 communities in the District to the main land of Kusawgu.

He noted that the residents get frightened whenever they have to use it and he was confident that after completion,  the bridge would not only allow farmers to convey their farm produce to other marketing centres but would also enable residents especially school children to get easy and safe access to school.

Hon. Issifu Salisu Be-Awuribe added that the District Assembly in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organization (NDMO) has started an anti bush fire campaign education in the entire District to educate farmers on the construction of fire belt before any fire activity on the farm.
