NZEMA EAST : 139 com’ties to get electricity

As part of efforts by the government to extend electricity to all parts of the country, about 139 communities in three (3) districts of the Western Region are to be connected to the national power grid.

As part of efforts by the government to extend electricity to all parts of the country, about 139 communities in three (3) districts of the Western Region are to be connected to the national power grid.

The areas include Jomoro, Ellembele and the Nzema East District.
The project which is under the national electrification scheme is estimated at $350 million and is expected to be completed within 6 months.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah on behalf of the Minister of Energy; Dr. Joe Oteng Adjei at a sensitization meeting with the people of Gwira Aiyinase in the Nzema East Municipality.

According to him, the sector Ministry’s Development Agenda focuses on increasing households’ access to energy to facilitate the implementation of growth and poverty reduction strategies towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
The Minister said access rate of electricity in the country has been increased from 54 to 72 per cent under the able leadership of President Mills.

The DCE’s for the Jomoro, Ellembele and the Nzema East Districts however expressed their gratitude to the government for extending such a project to their areas.
