An articulated truck with registration number YB 972-KJA and loaded with cola nuts has overturned on the Accra - Tema side of the Motorway, blocking the road completely and leaving in its trail a long and packed traffic jam of angry commuters.

The accident occurred at a spot close to the Accra Abattoir.

It is unclear how the accident occurred early Tuesday morning but Cpl. Felix Agbee of the Ashaiman Motor Traffic Unit of the Ghana Police Service at the scene told Newsmen that eyewitnesses claimed
a BMW saloon car crossed the truck and an attempt by the articulator driver to avoid the car resulted in the near fatal fall.

The yet to be identified driver and his companions on the truck have all been rushed to the 37 Military Hospital
while drivers of small cars are using the kerb to weave their way out of the confusion.

The police, according to Cpl. Agbee, are moving in with equipment to lift the fallen truck and to clear the road for free traffic.
