Mr Kow Anyanful, Acting Central Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress has called on advertisers to ensure that they do not present corruptible materials to the public.
Mr Anyanful, an educationist and a former District Chief Executive (DCE) expressed disapproval of some adverts on radio and television, which he said did not portray good examples to the youth.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam, the former DCE stressed the need for the advertisement companies to bequeath good morals and values to the youth to make them responsible leaders in future.
He objected to a rice advert in which a man had to lie in a telephone
conversation to his office that he was caught up in traffic because he wanted to eat a meal prepared from rice.
"Do we want to teach our youth the values in telling lies", he asked.
Mr Anyanful also commented on a soap and milk adverts, which he said promoted corruption and immoral behaviour.
He described the milk advert as encouraging black mailing and appealed to the National Media Commission or the agency responsible for advertisements to withdraw the three adverts immediately and to ensure that in future advertisements are censored before they get into the public domain.
"We must not teach our children the wrong things and later turn round to accuse them of indiscipline," he stressed.
