The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahanta West, Mr. Joseph Jones Amoah, has deplored the stealing of sign posts along the highways of the country. 

He observed that, most sign posts along the Agona Nkwanta-Elubo highway have seen stolen and said the practice must be stopped. 

Making a contribution at a forum on the rehabilitation of the Agona junction – Elubo road, Mr. Amoah deplored the theft of state property which he said was a drain on state coffers.

The Highways Authority (GHA) and other stakeholders the DCE said, must take stick measures to check this criminals act. 

“Because of careless driving, most of our light poles are gone”, stressing that those who cause such damages to state property must be educated.

Mr. Collins Donkor, another official from the GHA, said that, the police, as the first organization to arrive at accident spots, should include in their reports, the damage of road signs so that offenders could be surcharged. 

The Chief of Essiama Nana Kofi Apoe IV, observed that heavy trucks contribute to many road accident.

AMA
