Police in Obuasi are hunting for unidentified person who allegedly robbed Ernest Buanya Mensah, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Tain District last week.

The 60 year old DCE in the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration woke up on the morning of October 9 to find his Nissan Pathfinder with registration number AS 7070 parKed in his home had been broken into.

Obuasi Municipal Police Commander, ASP Mathew Asante, who disclosed this in an interview , said the suspects took Mr Mensah’s Ghanaian passport and his double-chip Samsung mobile phone valued at GHC 250.00.

According to the police chief, a small portion of glass on the rear door was found smashed during inspection. The police believed the thieves damaged the window to gain entry into the vehicle.

ASP Asante added that the car’s glove compartment had been forced open and documents scattered all over the front passenger seat.

He said police were currently on high alert and would soon clamp down on the culprits in order to ensure justice takes its course as prescribed by law.

He entreated the public to furnish law enforcement officers with information which would eventually lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
